WHAT: Wildfoods Festival
WHERE: Hokitika, New Zealand
Held mid-March in the quaint town of Hokitika on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island, the Wildfoods Festival has revellers feasting on things they probably never thought they would. On the menu - Seagull eggs, mountain oysters, possum cutlets, earthworms, Huhu beetle grubs to name a few and all washed down with gorse wine.
Not feeling adventurous? You can always feast on the more basic fare of frogs' legs and snails in garlic.
